With the 2012 Nuremberg Toy Fair starting in a weeks time I thought we’d have a few teasers floating around by now, but it seems ( to me at least ) to be rather quiet. Although if memory serves me correctly this time last year DML was putting out word of several kits that have only recently arrived ( or in the case of the Grant, not arrived at all ).

I have to admit that I am a total sucker for “new” stuff, be it kits or a new flavour of potato chip so I’m hoping for something exciting. 2011 was such a good year for people like myself who like soft skins ( trucks in particular ) and early/interwar armour ( still has fingers crossed for a newly tooled T-35 ) so it’s actually been hard this time round to go into the new year with a long list of “what I want this year”.

I’m still hanging out for an injection moulded bus, a tram, some larger trucks and a Tasca Flail and DD Sherman. But other than that I can’t really think of much that would go instantly to the top of the want list ( though I’m sure someone will come along and totally surprise me ).

So I’m hoping next week doesn’t come and go and leave me all “meh”. I’m a big kid and I need something exciting to look forward to, even if it’s just 1/35 Focke-Achgelis Fa 223. I’d be happy with one ( or two ) of those.

Have a good one and be careful out there, don’t drink and drive, don’t text and drive, especially if you live in the Waikato, it’s embarrassing enough that we have an increased road toll this year when the overall National toll is well down on last year.

So for those of you out there that celebrate it, as the Red Baron said to Snoopy, “Merry Christmas My Friend”.

This is the first post in what I hope will be a weekly feature where I plan to introduce you good folks out there to some of the various book titles ( and occassionally DVDs ) out there that may be of interest to modellers. I’m going to try and theme each week and I figured the logical thing to start off with was just taking a look at a few books that deal with Armour Modelling in general. Two of these ones listed here are DVDs ( “Modelling and Detailing German Armour” and “Military Vehicle Modelling And Conversions” ), the rest are books

Just click on the images for more information on each book.

I know I’ve been really quiet the last couple of weeks, a combination of being sick a few days, the girls being at home for the third term school holidays, the last week or two of the Rugby World Cup ( Go the ABs ), and being busy finishing off the Steyr Diorama ( yes it’s nearing the finish line and I’ve been slack with the updates so I’ll have to do one soon but it will skip ahead quite a bit ).

I have half a dozen news releases to do from the end of last week to the start of this week, so I’ll make an effort to get those done tomorrow. A bit late maybe but I figure if people take the time to send me the releases I should take the time to put them up.

There’s also a few new reviews in the pipeline that will be up soon, the Tristar Panzer IV L/70 (A), Amusing Hobby Neubau Fahrzeug, a couple of MiniArt vehicles, and some K59 bits.

So the kids are back at school, time to get back into it.
