Wow, six weeks since the last update, I have been slack haven’t I. It’s coming along, the base is now complete including adding black felt to the underside. Now I just need to organise a name plaque. The figures are all done as are all the other little bits. I added a chute bag and straps for the drop frame to the CLE container as well as the chute’s shroud lines. I did toss up adding part of a chute caught in the tree but I felt it would move the focus of the diorama onto the chute and away from the central action.

There’s around forty individual pieces of expended brass for the MG42 as well as a few for the MP44 and the Kar98K. I built a total of 70 but only 47 made it, the rest were devoured by the carpet monster or suffered tweezer ping and were launched into the ether to never be seen again.

So that’s where it’s at. The Steyr was almost done but has gone back a step after I discovered the hard way that Vellejo paints don’t like Tamiya Acrylic Thinner. So the camo scheme turned into a spluttering spray of paint globs about 1/5 of the way into it so I’ve striped the paint back and will be redoing it this week. Hoping to have this finished early next week so I can take it along to Armistice Day at Cambridge.
