Tamiya’s Latest Re-Releases, And They’ve Reached The Bottom Now

For those who missed it the 25pdr with Crew ( kit number 35046 ) is on it’s way back, as is the T34/85 ( kit number 35138 ). For the day to day modeller who just wants a low price and a simple build these will most likely still more than fit the bill. Even The Famous Generals set ( kit number 35118 ) isn’t terible and is at least interesting, but the other figure set that they’re re-releasing is the old U.S. WWII Tank Crew ( kit number 35004 ) and that set was always truly awful, and now even more so. Even their on artist had to resort to painting on the collars and pockets. But if you need some Ompah loompahs in oversized boots there you go.

Tamiya US tank crew are no match to dragon’s or MB. They really look like toys. I had one when I was still in High school and the assembly is really traditional- tank commander is a once piece body affair, attach the arms. then that’s basically it. lousy uniform pockets, creases and facial features. even the helmets in the loader and gunner is moulded on with the head and body

Yes lots of tamiya figures have huge boots, that tank crew set has some funny looking figures,I would like another rommel figure, anyone do one in resin.

Masterbox have just released a new DAK tank crew set that includes a figure of Rommel sitting on a turret. Don’t know how much he looks like Rommel, probably like the Tamiya one it will all come down to the painting.
