Build Log – Tamiya Steyr 1500A : Part 9

Catch Up With Part 8 : HERE

With the girls back at school and a bit of free time each day to get back to this I guess this one is more just a catch up update. The first two figures are done and put aside, they’ll need dusting up but that will get done when they’re tied in to the base and it all gets done together. Three of the other six figures are well underway, almost ready for painting and in the meantime I’ve been making a bit of stowage.

Still a few rolls etc to make and then I’ll start adding loose bits and pieces as well, ammo cans, grenade cases, things like that. Also, as is my bent, I like to add personal touches so I’ll be making a violin case to go under one of the seats. As this will be depicted crashed the plan is to sort out where all the stowage was before the impact and then work out what would have moved and where it would have ended up. Though I’m not planning a major crash so it will be more a few dislodged small bits and things that have slid on the floor rather than total chaos.

So other than the other figures which will get better coverage in Part 11 this is where its at. The stowage is made from basswood and Tamiya two part epoxy putty ( really good to work with ) and there’s a waiting pile from the spares bin. You may notice that the figure’s feet don’t sit flat in the photos, that’s because to get the driver in properly means pushing him down quite firmly onto the door frame lip and I don’t like to do that more often than I have to.
