New Work In Progress From MiniArt – Italian Village Diorama

I really like the look of this one ( kit number 36008 ), whoever does the kits for MiniArt’s artwork is bloody good, this looks fantastic.

Build Log – Tamiya Steyr 1500A : Part 8

Catch Up With Part 7 : HERE

Only a small update to keep this on track, with the past two weeks being given over to the school holidays and the past couple of days feeling unwell there hasn’t been a lot of modelling going on. But I managed to get the first two figures painted and the next three assembled.

I really need to work on my face painting and am looking at changing the washes I use to be less yellow and more brown so hopefully the next lot will look better. These two will get a few dirt pigments added at the end to tie them in with the Steyr and the base but for now that’s those two done. I also need to redo the photos in better light against a more neutral background.

The next three are part of the plan to show this lot in a mixed bag of camo, with the first two being an Autumn Oak Leaf over field grey trousers and Summer Oakleaf over Italian M29 pattern trousers. These three will be a mix of Pea Dot ( Dot 44 ) tunics on two, likewise for the trousers on one, field grey trousers on the other, with the machine gunner having an early style smock in the early Oak Spring pattern and field grey trousers.

For now I’ve left the top half of the Gen 2 MP40 to give more access to the face. These need to now be cleaned up, have all the seams removed and joins blended in, then equipment added. So far all they’ve had done is hollowed out the ends of the sleeves and the tunic skirts have been undercut.

They were pretty good figures to start with so are pretty much OOB other than the one reloading who needed a bit of work to reposition the hand and arm. The gunner also needed his hands made to look like they were actually gripping and I had to make a section of expended belt links as the MG42 ammo belt wasn’t the disintegrating link style we get these days.

Hopefully after the weekend once the girls are back at school I’ll get back to having a couple of hours a day to work on these ( plus do a few of the couple of dozen reviews that need to be done ).
