Kit Review – Diopark Cooking Ware

Diopark – Cooking Ware

Diopark are a recent entry into the 1/35 diorama accessories game and started off with a range of injection moulded flowers which were quite nifty. Just recently they’ve added several accessory sets that cover bits and pieces that you would find in every day life such as cooking equipment and workshop tools.

This set is their “Cooking Ware” set and comes in a small box containing three grey sprues. These make up into a wooden table, two wooden benches and a stack of pots and pans etc. The instructions are printed on the back of the box, though to be perfectly honest they’re somewhat superflous as there isn’t much that actually needs assembling.

The mould quality is excellent, there’s no flash, very minor mould seems and the only ejector pin marks are four under the table top and two under each bench seat. These are mostly hidden by the legs once they are attached and are hard to see when done, but if they bother you they are easy to clean up. Other than that there are none, including on the legs which is often a problem area I’ve found with similar injection moulded “wood” parts.

Contentswise you get what you see on the cover, essentially one very large pot, one large pot, one smaller pot, a bucket, a large saucepan, lids for all of the above and then a range of cooking utensils that includes knives, a cleaver, meat hooks, rolling pins, plates, bowls and cuttlery. There is also a salt and pepper shaker, a breadboard, a kettle, a hacksaw, and even a candle in a holder for those intimate field dinners. The teapot even has its own lid ( but you’ll have to make your own teabags ).

Conclusion. This is a moderately priced set at around $25 NZD landed so some might think it a bit on the pricey side for a few pots and pans but it really is worth every cent of that. I love this kit, as a diorama builder this is fantastic for the little bits it adds that are such a chore to scratchbuild but that really help set of a piece. I just hope that they, or someone similar, follows it up with a good food set with some sides of meat, etc. Very highly recommended.
