New From Bronco – British 17/25 pdr Anti-Tank Gun “Pheasant”

I just got back from a few days away for Easter to find this, which has got to be some of the best news so far this year. The 17/25 pdr AT “Pheasant” was the result of the British rushing their in-development 17 pdr into action in North Africa after the appearance of the Tiger tank. As the carriage for the 17 pdr wasn’t ready the guns were fitted to 25 pdr carriages and known as the 17/25 pdr, or “Pheasant”.

So what makes this news so interesting is not that Bronco have chosen to take their very good 17 pdr kit and make it into a slightly obscure version, but rather the not unrealistic assumption that they didn’t go to all the trouble of making a 25 pdr carriage just for this kit. So I expect we’ll soon see a new 25 pdr Field Gun kit from Bronco as well. And of course that raises the question of will we see DML rush their one - announced back in October 2010 – into production to beat Bronco to the punch.
