Well I guess that’s that mystery cleared up. DML’s “newly tooled half-track with gun” is the Sd.Kfz.10/5 DEMAG with a 2cm FlaK 38 gun. Time to shelve all those Italeri kits that are gathering dust. I must say I do like this one, particluarly the inclusion off the engine and positionable engine hoods. DML have also never been known for not utilising a platform so no doubt we’ll soon see a raft of Sd.Kfz.10 variants avaiable and that’s even better news. So there we have it, a new Smart kit ( kit number 6676 ).

Are the Smart Kits meant to be an easier/simpler model?
(Or is that Orange Box??)
Smart Kits are supposed to minimise the use of things like Photo-Etch and to sometimes offer things like optional tool sets, one for use with PE, one with moulded on clamps. The intention is that they are simpler and easier to build. The orange box “super value” range are older Dragon kits that are re-released paired up with a set of figures and sold for a lot cheaper than they were originally sold for.
Not quite the half track I was expecting, but will be certainly adding this to the stash, along with the Behelfspanzerung 10/5 armoured cab version (if they release one)
Yeah same. Guess I have to go back to pining for an Sd.Kfz.8 Bunkerknacker.
