AM Part Review : Tamiya Brass 75mm Panther Projectiles

It’s been said that nothing replicates brass as good as actual brass. When it comes to adding artillery or tank shells to a model or a diorama painting and buffing can look good, but really if you want the best brass look you just can’t beat using actual brass shell casings.

Tamiya makes a range of inexpensive brass shells  for the more popular models of tanks with this set being for the 7.5cm KwK 42 L/70 gun as mounted on the Pz.Kpfw V Panther tank.

This set contains twelve complete shells plus another five shell casings to represent fired rounds. These are drilled out at the end to look hollow and the effect works very well. The twelve complete rounds are made up of :

  • Four 7.5cm Pzgr. Patr. 39/42 Standard Armour Piercing shell
  • Four 7.5cm Pzgr. Patr. 40/42 Armour Piercing shell with a tungsten core
  • Four 7.5cm Sprgr. Patr. 42 High Explosive shell

A colour guide for painting the projectiles with Tamiya paints is also included.

This is a very handy little set to have around if you are going to be displaying ammunition for your Panther. These are well made and look very good, adding just that little extra touch.
