Now you have to admit that title makes it sound like a bunch of guys in Academy’s R&D department sat around trying to figure out what to call this set and not one of them put his hand up and said “Tank Hunters” or something along those lines. So instead we get an Infantry “destroyer” set. Certainly sounds very intimidating.
But what it is in fact is a small open ended box holding three dark yellow sprues that within their frames hold five figures and an assortment of weapons. The mouldings aren’t bad, there’s a small ammount of flash and the usual minor mould seams to remove and some of the detail could use sharpening up, mainly around the webbing and some of the clothing folds and creases, but overall they look fairly good. The faces have good expressions though the detail isn’t deep so go light on the paint or you’ll obscure what is there.
You get a total of five figures, one kneeling with a Panzerschreck, a second kneeling behind him with spare rockets, an NCO sitting, a fourth crawling with a flame thrower and the fifth walking holding a Panzerfaust 60. This gives you a got selection of figures suitable for taking on armour as well as something like a bunker or other fixed position.
Equipmentwise to go between them you get five helmets with covers, five helmets without covers, five rolled zeltbahns, five breadbags, five entrenching tools with bayonets, five standalone bayonets in scabbards, five canteens, five gas mask containers and five mess tins. There is also a mapcase, a pair of binoculas, six Kar 98K ammo pouches, five MP40 ammo pouches ( none have the smaller cleaning kit pouch of the earlier style MP40 mag pouches ), and two Luger holsters.
Weaponwise you get the Panzerschreck, the flamethrower, a Panzerfaust 60 with the sights folded, a Panzerfaust 60 with the sights in the firing position, a luger pistol, three Kar 98K rifles, two MP40 sub machine guns and five “potato masher” stick grenades. There are also three rockets for the Panzerschreck.
So all in all you get quite a god range of weapons and equipment with which you can fully kit these five out.
Academy can be underated at times and with this kit that certainly should not be the case as this is a very nice set that makes up into some good looking figures, and with a little extra work some very good looking figures. Certainly there are better figures out there but there are also many others that are far worse.
