AM Parts Review : RB Models 8.8cm KwK 43/3 L/71 King Tiger ( Late ) Aluminium Gun Barrel

RB Models is an Eastern European manufacturer that reputedly makes the barrels for Aber, and when you look at the quality of pieces like this it’s easy to believe. This is a beautiful piece of machinery that comes as a single turned aluminium barrel plus four brass fittings and a small brass fret to make up the muzzle brake.

The turned aluminium barrel includes the fine striations of the lathe that are found on the real gun and the muzzle includes fine rifling detail even though once the muzzle brake is on this is nearly impossibe to see without a magnifying glass and direct lighting. It also includes a pre-fitted brass collar and locking ring with the proper holes which were for the tool used to undo the ring. The brass fittings for the muzzle brake are equally well made and fit together beautifully.

There are no instructions for assembling the RB Models barrels so you either need to know your stuff or do a little research. For this particular barrel this assembly guide taken from the equally good ARMORSCALE barrel should aid in showing what goes where.

This is a beautiful piece of kit and the level of detail just way outdoes any kit supplied gun. If you want the very best when you’re building your King Tiger then this is definitely one to add to the upgrade parts list.
